Why I love video editing. | Video Editing Inspiration
I love video editing.

It's confession time: I'm a video editing addict…and I freaking love it.

Think about it what's not to adore? It's the perfect cure for my life-long gamer itch!

Picture this: I was that kid who went full-on zombie mode after school. Family dinner? Done. Homework? Check (barely). Then it was three to five solid hours of video game bliss.

Fast forward to today, and my DualSense controller is still my bestie. Yep, Elden Ring replay is prepping me for the DLC. Sorry, not sorry.

But the thing is, video editing? That's basically video games for grownups. You get all this raw footage and boom, it's your job to make magic happen. Cutting, splicing, sound effects, graphics – it's like a massive, super-creative puzzle I get paid to solve.

The Sweet, Sweet Victory of Finishing a Project

Completing a video that the client loves, that I love, and knowing their audience will dig it? It's the digital equivalent of beating a mega-tough Elden Ring boss. Each video is a challenge, but the satisfaction is off the charts. It's the ultimate gamer rush!

Here's where things get even better. Video editing actually helps people. My clients are busy with the whole content creation thing, and that's where I swoop in with my editing ninja skills. We're a team, and my video magic frees up their time, helps their content shine, and makes them look like superstars.

The best part? My clients are so stoked with the results that they sometimes go all shouty on social media about how great I am. It's like, okay, I can handle all this public praise, I guess. 😏 Honestly, hearing how I'm indirectly helping their audience? That feeling right there is why I do what I do.

Corporate Life vs. Freelance Editing: A Hilariously True Comparison

Finding amazing clients is hard work. But once you snag 'em? Hold on tight, because they're precious. And this ain't like those corporate jobs I used to have (seriously, I could make a whole series on THAT hot mess).

In corporate land, you get zero of that sweet viewer feedback, and every decision is a 20-person committee meeting where everyone's a self-proclaimed expert. It's the creative equivalent of waterboarding.

Freelancing? It's all about control, baby! I run this show. I decide my hours, my workload, and I get to put my heart and soul into projects I believe in. The challenges are real, sure, it's the life of an entrepreneur. Lost some clients? Tight month? You bounce back, hustle harder, and watch your business grow. I'm telling you, being my own boss has been THE best life choice.

So, You Think You Can Handle Being Your Own Boss?

If that idea makes your heart race (in a good way), maybe it's your turn to jump into the freelance video editing pool. It was scary for me, but sweet giblets, has it been the most rewarding decision ever.

Bottom line, I'm straight-up obsessed with video editing. Are you feeling the editing love too? Spill it in the comments! And if you want insider tips on how to make this your jam too, sign up to my newletter. I'm about to spill all the tea on how to be an editing rockstar.
